Jack’s Response The Unwanteds

Official Spoiler Warning! The following are not responsible for any spoilers or other kinds of upsets. x Jack P Michelini Jack P Michelini Student

Summary In the Unwanteds, 13 year old Alex of Quill has been sent classified as an Unwanted, while his brother Aaron was a Wanted. He finds himself going to the death farm to be killed. However, he finds that he is transported into the magical land of Artimé. He learns magic but still misses his brother. However, he finds a way to make a magical door, right into Aaron’s dormitory. There, Aaron calls him a hallucination, and tells his brother that he is a filthy being. Alex takes Aaron back to Artimé and meets Mr. Today, the ruler of Artimé. Aaron then goes back to his dormitory and tells the High Priest Justine that he has a solution to having bad fuel, telling her he needs to investigate the Great Lake of Boiling Oil. Once there, the whole of Artimé is discovered and Quill rages war on Artimé. This results in Aaron almost killing Alex, the High Priest Justine being killed, and eventually peace to both Quill and Artimé. However, throughout the book Alex thinks of Aaron differently. In the beginning he thinks of him as a great friend, until at the end of the book this trust is broken.

Letter to Author Dear Lisa McMann, 1/26/14 I really liked your book The Unwanteds and I have a few questions. First, Why did you right this book? Did you have inspiration from your family? Friends? Next, If you could pick one character in the book, who would you think describes you? Ms. Morning? Lastly, which author/book did you like to read when you were young? Thank you for your time, Jack Michelini

Once upon a time… Once upon a time there was a land called Quill. There was also a land named Artimé. Brother and sister Marcus Today and High Priest Justine ruled these lands. However, high priest Justine knew nothing of Artimé. One day, Alex and Aaron Stowe are sorted separate into 2 groups, Wanteds and Unwanteds. Alex, an Unwanted, found his brother, however, his brother told High Priest Justine about Artimé. There was a war and Artimé won.

Thank You!
