Next Generation Learning Student Perspective Any time, any where (e-Learning) Multiple form factor, time factor (electronic classrooms) Life-long learning (once in life to many times in life) Inter-departmental, Inter-institutional, Inter-country, Inter-continental Ubiquitous computing as the base line Punch-line: All life, engaging, interactive, unlimited Caveat : Learning is a serious business; Google can be God but no Teacher! Obesity is as much a disease as malnutrition

Next Generation Learning Teacher Perspective Delivery challenge will become a thing of the past Role moves from “pouring” to “guide” Experiential, interactive, multimedia, multiple elements, class Vs Library integration, Lab Vs Class integration, Class Vs Real world integration will become POSSIBLE (thru tools) for MOST teachers Individualized “guidance” will become far more practical Scale will NOT be a “technical” issue, but a “mindset” issue Punch-line: Administrators, geography, technology may NOT limit you, but imagination will Caveat : Teaching is No entertainment, but a serious business

Next Generation Learning Student - Teacher Perspective Class, Library, reference, Lab will seamlessly coalesce (Blackboard, Google, Wikipaedia, Encyclopedia, i-Campus) Dramatic improvement in access, including those that are challenged Punch-line: Departments, Institutions, Universities will undergo a major organizational change Caveat : Class rooms will not disappear, admissions cannot be “walk through”, education is no “bazaar” but the scale will remove “artificial” access constraints

Societal Issues Education access will become easier Lifelong education poses another set of challenges (for the masses) Technology will NOT be a limiting factor; but the interaction will demand a far more “relaxed”, compelling content Are we (teachers) ready? Are they (students) ready?
