Quantum Data, Inc Big Timber Road Elgin, IL USA Phone (847) Fax (847) Quantum Data Confidential Quantum Data PS-980 Protocol Scope for The Quantum Data PS-980 Protocol Scope for HDMI provides visibility into the HDMI protocol giving the user the opportunity for detailed analysis to the bit level. Supports capturing and decoding of HDCP encrypted data from HDMI source devices. Starting with a set of captured frames, navigate down to a detailed view to examine potential anomalies, transitional states and incorrect HDMI data implementations at the TMDS level. Built-in triggering capabilities can be set to capture and store files automatically for later analysis.

Quantum Data, Inc Big Timber Road Elgin, IL USA Phone (847) Fax (847) Quantum Data Confidential What problems does the PS-980 help you resolve? HDMI Protocol debugging – make certain that the HDMI output from a semiconductor, source device or repeater is providing coherent HDMI data. HDMI interoperability – View detailed HDMI protocol data to identify inconsistencies that cause interoperability problems. HDCP – Identify the root cause of HDCP authentication failures. Emulate multiple production keys, revoked keys and test keys. Timing issues - Determine if a video source matches a known-good timing. Identify pixel clock instabilities, sync instabilities, horizontal and vertical timing parameters. Data Island packets – Ensure data island packets such as AVI infoframe packets are arriving at the correct time and frequency and with the expected values. Audio data – Verify consistency in audio data and audio clock recovery. Muting - Verify that the AVmute enable/disable occurs properly. And much more!

Quantum Data, Inc Big Timber Road Elgin, IL USA Phone (847) Fax (847) Quantum Data Confidential 1. Capture files are saved and can be exchanged with others for analysis. 2. Video Analysis provides frame thumbnails which can show pixel coordinates/color values. 3. HDCP can be decrypted as part of the protocol. 4. Data Decode section shows ALL packets in order. 5. Detail of the protocol transaction is provided. 6. Original data is also presented. 7. Timing and Audio Analysis is constructed based on video data NOT data islands. Provides comparison of A/V data to Infoframe description.

Quantum Data, Inc Big Timber Road Elgin, IL USA Phone (847) Fax (847) Quantum Data Confidential 1. 2Gb buffer use can be be maximized by data capture selection trigger. 2. Rolling buffer settings can be applied. 3. Capture buffer size can be controlled by percentage from % 4. Capture buffer position controls distribution of data around the trigger point (50% = half data before trigger and half after based on buffer sizing). 5. Post capture buffer also shows statistics of data in the capture and allow filtering of the captured data into sub categories. 6. Select transaction and view frame, line and pixel locations with a time stamp. Includes detail and actual data transmitted.

Quantum Data, Inc Big Timber Road Elgin, IL USA Phone (847) Fax (847) Quantum Data Confidential 1. Integrated “search tools” make examination of data quick and easy. 2. View HDCP, EDID, CEC and other events in total context of all HDMI protocol. 3. The console tab provides access to command line data. Use traditional Linux tools to explore and review the captured data. 4. EDID Management provides an EDID editor so that tests can be configured to emulate protocol initiated in response to a specific EDID data file.

Quantum Data, Inc Big Timber Road Elgin, IL USA Phone (847) Fax (847) Quantum Data Confidential 1. Event Plot is added to show time based relationships between data types 2. Event Plot can be magnified to show more detail in smaller space. Vertical lines denote significant time intervals. 3. All views are synchronized by selecting a view and pressing “Alt” and click. Note the view being synchronized in this view is based on FRAME Panels can be “dragged” and dropped” into other space OR you can minimize views that are not relevant to the analysis.

Quantum Data, Inc Big Timber Road Elgin, IL USA Phone (847) Fax (847) Quantum Data Confidential 1. Double clicking on a thumbnail will expand the view for more detailed analysis. 2. Cross hairs help locate pixel coordinates and display R,G and B values.

Quantum Data, Inc Big Timber Road Elgin, IL USA Phone (847) Fax (847) Quantum Data Confidential 1. Frame 63 is synchronized by clicking on the Data Decode event. 2. A “magnified” view of Frame 63 can pick out the time base relationship of the AVI Infoframe in Frame The Detail Information section of the Data Decode describes the data. 4. The Data section displays the raw data transmitted.

Quantum Data, Inc Big Timber Road Elgin, IL USA Phone (847) Fax (847) Quantum Data Confidential 1. The Audio Analyzer can compose an analysis from captured audio data and provide some detailed view of the HDMI audio. Specifically it allows the user to verify data in the Channel Status Block, AVI Infoframe and the Audio Infoframe.

Quantum Data, Inc Big Timber Road Elgin, IL USA Phone (847) Fax (847) Quantum Data Confidential 1. The Timing Analyzer view provides a parsed version of video data that can be used to verify in incoming timing. 2. The summary report of the Timing Analyzer is derived from the Frame Statistics which can verify the summary through detail. 3. Comparing the Timing Analyzer to the AVI Infoframe quickly verifies that the Infoframe data is properly reporting the output of the device.

Quantum Data, Inc Big Timber Road Elgin, IL USA Phone (847) Fax (847) Quantum Data Confidential PS-980 Protocol Scope The PS-980 provides complete visibility into all HDMI data including HDCP decrypted data. Decodes video data, control packets data islands, DDC and CEC data. Debug product and system related problems with this powerful HDMI development tool.
