Operant Conditioning Behaviorism – being shaped by one’s environment (“nurture”) John B. Watson B.F. Skinner

Operant Conditioning Strengthening of a stimulus-response by following the response with a reinforcement – Antecedent: call to action – Behavior: response – correct or incorrect – Consequence: reinforcement or punishment (or ignored) – Conscious behavior – Behavior controlled by consequences – Measurable and scientific – Reinforcement comes after response… so greater likelihood behavior will increase/decrease
