Introduction Web applications have three main purposes to sell a product, to share general information about a specific subject, and to share information about yourself. A web page is a text file containing Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) formatting tags and links to graphic files and other web pages through a web server. In other words, “an interactive form of communication that uses a computer network.”

Types Web sites can be disk-based or server-based. a)Disk-based sites can be stored on floppy disks or on a hard drive b)Server-based sites have your files and folders stored on a Web server.

Introduction to FrontPage 2003 FrontPage allows you to create, format, and lay out text; add pictures created outside of FrontPage, establish hyperlinks, and organize your website and their links by using several views of the pages in a web in a drag-and-drop environment. WYSIWYG – What You See Is What You Get. A common term for HTML Editors like FrontPage and Dream weaver that let you preview to see what your finished page or site will look like.

Use FrontPage Views Once you have opened FrontPage, the View menu allows you to use the Folders view, where you can see all the files in your Web site. The View menu allows you to see your site from different perspectives. The Folders list shows all the folders and files in the site.

Other views Reports view identifies problems with pages and links in the web including slow-loading pages, broken links, and other errors. Navigation view lists the navigation order of the site and allows you to change the order that a user would view the pages. Hyperlinks view allows you to organize the links in the web pages. Tasks view provides a grid for inputting tasks you need to complete in your web.
