Student Day School day for students is from 8:05 am - 2:25 pm Our day has 7 periods, which includes 6 periods of academic classes and 1 period of lunch. There is an 18 minute Advisory period built into the schedule each day following second period.

English 7th Grade English 7 Accelerated Eng. 7 (by permission only) **All students will select English 7/8 and will automatically be placed into accelerated based upon test scores.

7th Grade Math 7th Grade Math 7 Accelerated Math 7 - by permission only (this course consists of all of 7th grade math curriculum plus 1/2 of 8th) All students will select the math course they wish to take. However, students will be placed into accelerated based upon test scores. High School Credit Option - By permission only Algebra 1 (1.0) (this course consists of parts of the 8th grade curriculum and all of the Algebra 1 curriculum)

8th Grade Math 8th Grade Math 8 High School Credit Option - By permission only Algebra 1 (1.0) (this course consists of 1/2 of the 8th grade curriculum and all of the Algebra 1 curriculum) Geometry 1 (1.0) (must have credit for Algebra 1)

Science 7th Grade Science 7 8th Grade Science 8 High School Credit Option - By permission only Integrated Science (1.0) (This course also covers 8th grade Life & Earth Science as well as the Integrated Science material)

Music - All courses are year-long 7th & 8th Grade Choir *Band *Orchestra *Students taking band or orchestra must already have a foundation. 7th grade students not taking music must take physical education or health class.

Physical Education & Health - All courses are a semester long 7th & 8th Grade Physical Education Health Fitness and Nutrition Lifetime Fitness (.25) Team Sports (.25) 7th grade students not taking music must take physical education or health class.

Foreign Language - All courses are year-long 7th Grade Spanish 1 (1.0) 8th Grade French 1 (1.0) German 1 (1.0) Spanish 1 (1.0) Spanish 2 (1.0) *French 1 and German 1 will be offered at the high school prior to the start of the junior high school day. *Students are still required to take 6 periods of classes and a lunch at the Junior High.

Art - All courses are a semester long 7th & 8th Grade Art Survey 2-D (.5) 3-D (.5) (not offered 2013-2014)

Integrated Technology - All courses are a semester long 7th & 8th Grade Introduction to Multimedia Production Introduction to Engineering Technology (.5)

High School Credit Classes All high school classes must be taken for HS credit. Courses cannot be repeated for a higher grade and will include high school level semester exams. Students may take all high school credit classes for pass/fail instead of a letter grade. Students must meet the deadlines in order to take a HS class as pass/fail.

Pass/Fail Policy Students wishing to take a HS class as pass/fail must meet the following deadlines: 1st semester classes – up to 10 days after quarter 1 report cards are distributed. 2nd semester and year-long classes – up to 10 days after quarter 3 report cards are distributed. Students choosing pass/fail will receive an “S” or “U” as the final grade on their report card. Pass/fail classes will not be counted in determining grade point average for honor rolls, class rank, or academic awards.

Schedule Changes Schedule changes will NOT be made in August unless the reason for the request meets the criteria set forth by the board of education. Please carefully discuss and review the registration materials with your child before submitting the form.

Returning Registration Materials Students are to turn the course request sheet in to their homeroom teacher, no later than: 2/28/13 Students are expected to fill in all of the blanks for elective alternatives on the course request form. Failure to do so will result in students being assigned alternative electives if needed without their input or ability to change. We are unable to accommodate teacher requests.
