Australia has some very dangerous animals. Here are my 5 favourite dangerous animals (in no particular order!!!)

The great white shark, more commonly known as the great white belongs to a family (or group) of sharks named mackerel sharks.That was its common name because of the sharkys white belly. They hate company but have been known to hunt as a pack (when they're hungry!) They are found on all Australian coasts and throughout the world…………………………………………… ……………..They are powerful enough to kill a man!

venomous The common Tiger Snake is found in eastern and southern Australia. They are commonly 1m long and have a stripy marking. (Tiger Snake, see the likeness?!?!) This isn't always the case, the markings can change due to the season and age of the snake. They can grow to 1.5m long.They are venomous snakes and will attack anyone (including aborigines) if disturbed or threatened. These snakes feed on all types of creatures, they happily feed on frogs, fish, small birds and other small mammals. They also eat other reptiles such as lizards.

ALL urban The red back spider is Australia's most well known dangerous spider. RBS are found ALL over Australia, most commonly in urban areas. The red back spider is a close relative of the black widow, a bit like you and your brother OR sister (except they dont fight as much!) These spiders are usually found under logs, rocks, bricks, sheds and outdoor toilets. The spider feasts on insects but can take down lizards or crickets. Amazing Fact: Only the female red back spider bite is dangerous to humans. Red backs are small in size, the females being about 1cm long and the males about 4mm long.

The saltwater crocodile is the worlds largest reptile. These amazing creatures are found on the northern coast of Australia and inland for 100km or more. The Saltwater crocodile has been known to grow up to a HUGE 7m long, nearly as long as two double decker buses stacked on top of each other are tall. The average size of a Saltwater Crocodile is 4 metres long!! They reproduce in the wet season, with the female crocodile laying up to 60 eggs at a time. When the crocodiles are born, only a very small number of these survive in the wild and grow to be adult crocodiles.

The Stonefish is one of Australia's deadly marine creatures. They inhabit shallow waters along the coast. The stonefish is well camouflaged in the ocean, as it is a brownish colour, and often resembles a rock. This is why it is called the Stonefish. It has thirteen sharp spines on its back, which each have extremely toxic venom.The venom of a stonefish can kill a human in two hours.
