“Bold Meekness” Matt. 5:5

Literally: Happy; fortunate. Old English: To cover something in blood to cleanse or purify. Christian blessing: Purifying sin and evil by the power of the blood of Christ. Good relationship with God and gifts from God.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.” ~ Matthew 5:3

“Blessed are you who recognize you’re spiritually helpless. You’re now trustworthy to get the Kingdom.”

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” (Matthew 5:4) Literally means: “Blessed are you when you regret what separates you from God badly enough to want change. Then, you’ll be reassured and renewed.”

“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.” ~ Matthew 5:5

MEEK MEEK Weak Timid “For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self- discipline.” ~ 2 Timothy 1:6-7

MEEKHumble A humility born from strength. Based on being secure in who you are. No need to prove anything or impress anyone to be validated. Rock-solid assurance of who [or Whose] you are. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” ~ Matthew 11:28-29

“Humility does not consist simply in thinking cheaply of oneself, so much as not thinking of oneself at all— and of Christ more and more.” ~ Keith Brooks “The humble man [or woman] feels no jealousy or envy. He can praise God when others are preferred and blessed before him. He can bear to hear others praised while he is forgotten…because he has received the Spirit of Jesus who pleased not himself, and who sought not his own honor.” ~ Andrew Murray “Should you ask me: What is the first thing in religion? I should reply: The first, second, and third thing therein is humility.” ~ Augustine

MEEK M ake Jesus the true Leader of my life. “Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” ~ Matthew 16:24 Translation: “Anyone who intends to come with Me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat, I AM.”

MEEK M E stablish God’s Word (the Bible) as the authority for your life. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in ighteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” ~ 2 Timothy 3:16-17 Translation: The Bible is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what’s true and to make us realize what’s wrong in our lives. It exposes evil and teaches us to do what’s right.”

MEEK M E E mbrace God’s Spirit as the real power in your life. “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees…” ~ Ezekiel 36:26-27a

Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal with human effort? ~ Galatians 3:3

MEEK M ake Jesus your Leader E stablish the Word E mbrace the Spirit K eep Jesus the focus of your life. “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” ~ Hebrews 12:2
