How do citizens participate in a Unitary Government?

Unitary Government It is governed by a single body. The central government is supreme. The other divisions of government exercise only powers that the central government has delegated to them. The Central Government has a high level of power!!!

The United Kingdom It is a unitary state. England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland have no power to challenge the constitutional acts of Parliament.

Prime Minister: David Cameron The Prime Minister is head of the UK government and is ultimately responsible for the policy and decisions of the government. oversees the government agencies appoints members of the government is the principal government figure in the House of Commons

How does the Prime Minster get his job? The leader of the party in power becomes the Prime Minister. The leader of the political party with the most Members of Parliament (MPs) in the House of Commons is asked by the Queen to become Prime Minister and to form a government that will manage the country. 

House of Commons Lower House: In a General Election, the British public elects 650 Members of Parliament (MPs). MPs are elected by voters in their districts to represent their interests and concerns in the House of Commons.

House of Lords Upper House: Membership of the House of Lords is not elected by the people. Membership is attained by inheritance. They are appointed through positions within the Church of England (26 senior bishops have the right to sit in the House of Lords). The majority of members are life peers who are appointed by the Monarch on the advice of the Prime Minister. -

The Queen The Queen is Head of State of the UK and 15 other Commonwealth nations. As Head of State, the Queen has constitutional and representational duties. The Queen plays a part in State functions in Britain. Parliament must be opened, Orders in Council have to be approved, Acts of Parliament must be signed, and meetings with the Prime Minister must be held by the Queen.
