Steps to Succeed! By now you should have… Step 1: Your Resume Step 2: Apply! Step 3: Wait for Reponses, but in the mean time… Step 4: The On-Campus Interview Step 5: The Office Visit Step 6: Following up

By Now You Should Have… Maintained a respectable GPA Networked –Technicals, Meet the Professionals Night, xACT Competition, people you know, etc. Been Involved –Demonstrate leadership, extracurricular, work experience

Step 1: Your Resume The Qualifier –Recruiters take under 30 seconds to look at your resume (Make sure its organized!) Highlights –GPA and Major –Work experience –Computer skills –Extracurricular (leadership roles especially) Templates on CRC Website Have it critiqued by the CRC Example Resume

Step 2: Apply! Consistently check the CRC Website – Click Student, then Job Opportunitieswww.mgt.buffalo.edu/crc –Postings begin toward the end of December Read the job description carefully Apply through or submit… –CRC Website (required!) –Firms website (if requested in the job description) –Personal Data Sheet

Step 3: Wait for Responses, but in the mean time… Keep applying Prepare for interviews –Know your resume Your experience and qualifications matched with the job description –Dress –Practice interviews through the CRC –Ask us questions Best thing you can do: know what an interview is like before you go in

Step 4: The On-Campus Interview Arrive early, but not too early! –10 minutes at the most! Greeters Different types of interviews –Behavioral-based questions –Conversation Show that you are listening Have questions Handshake and business card

Step 5: The Office Visit Youre doing well! More interviewing –Meet Partners and more staff Be yourself –If you try to be what they want, you wont be as comfortable and they will see it Continue to ask questions

Step 6: Following Up Sending Thank You letters –One after the On-Campus interview –One after the Office Visit –Send to each interviewee –Make it personal Refer to conversation during the interview Express your interest in the firm Follow up calls –7-10 days, unless they tell you a time frame
