What is GM 2 ? GM 2 is Guthrie’s Music Ministries, thus the G and the two M’s are the squaring effect. GM 2 was founded by Alice F.B. Guthrie to help promote her own love for music and to help others learn to appreciate the art of music. The Ministry has grown by leaps and bounds over the last couple of years and we continue to be blessed by the grace and love of God. Guthrie‘s Music Ministries 5 th Annual Youth Gospel Explosion Established in 2007, the William George Cowan Scholarship Fund is administered by GEMS (Guthrie’s Empowering Ministries Scholarship) in Memory of William George “Daddy Bill” Cowan. 1 st Award present at last year’s Gospel Explosion to Shakira Carter of Malvern, AR The William G. Cowan scholarship is designed to recognize young men and women of color who are making significant contributions to their communities. GEMS wants to support and encourage their continuing education by providing scholarships to those men and women enrolled in accredited technical and undergraduate programs.
