The president of China is Hu Jintao. China is so big it is 10 million square km. It has the biggest population in the world. 1.3 billion people live in China today. Today Jews are called Youtairen in Manderin. Some time they were called Tiao Jin Jiao which means the religions that removes the sinew. This name originates from the laws of Kashrut. The Chinese Jews are also called the Blue Hat Hy.

China's history goes back more than 4000 years. The Jews originally came to China in the 7 th or 8 th century. It was said that the Jews in China are one of the 10 lost tribes. A Famous group of Jews were the Kai Feng Jews, who lived in the Henan Province. In 1605 a large synagogue was known to have existed with a holy of holies. Only the Chief Rabbi could go in. During the Tang Dynasty (9 th century) there was a massacre of the Jews in Canton. Today about 3000 Jews live in China.

In 2001 the first Chabad was built in Beijing. In 2005 the Israeli embassy celebrated Chanukah on the Great Wall of China. In 2010 Ohel Rachel in Shang Hi reopened to Jews for Shul services. It was closed in Books on Jews and their connection to financial successes are best sellers in China. Marco Polo the famous traveller and discoverer made reference to the Jewish traders of Beijing. In the Ming Dynasty the emperor gave the Jews the following surnames, Ai (ezra) Shi (stone) Gao (Cohen) Jin (gold) Li (Levi) Zhang (Joshua) Zhao (Jonathan). The Jews worked in government and owned property. A lot of Jews were killed in the Taiping Rebellion.
