High Quality Research (and life) demands: Interoperability across solutions, media and domains ( Research networking testbeds ) Multimodality / Multilinguality across disciplines and languages ( Multimodal interfaces ) Collaboration across distances, cultures and standards ( Collaborative Working Environments ) Preservation and Access of results across time and interests ( Access and preservation of cultural and scientific resources ) In one word: Documents (of high quality)

How a Document Academy? A European / International distributed document lab Multidimensional Document Analysis (multimedia, multiple producers, multiple users) Multidisciplinary Document Analysis (IST, Humanities and Social Sciences) Three testbeds: Health care (EHR), Arts (Multimedia arts) and Libraries (Digilib) Merging European / North American Document Research communities (despite Google dispute !)
