Additional techniques Be neutral throughout Never suggest answers to the respondent Do not change the wording or sequence of questions Do not form expectations Do not hurry through the interview

Minimizing Refusals Communication is critical –DHO, District Council –Chiefs –Headmen –Household head Call backs Respecting consent

Call backs Absent HHs should be re-visited up to 3 times –To gain consent –To conduct HH interview –To conduct interviews with eligible women –To test children who may not be present
