Presentation transcript:

Examine the background and methods of Malcolm X in comparison to Martin Luther King Jr. Quote of the day: Dr. King wants the same thing I want – freedom. Now, his method of going about it is the nonviolent way. We may differ in method, but that does not mean we differ in objective. Malcolm X 1964 In a perfect world the grades for the 4 th six weeks would be complete & final… WE STILL DON’T LIVE IN A PERFECT WORLD!

You must write a fictional dialogue between Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X that reflects their different viewpoints on the method African Americans should use to achieve equal rights in the United States. Begin your dialogue with this: Malcolm X: Martin, you’re going about this civil rights movement all wrong. Martin Luther King Jr: Is that right? Well, do you have any better ideas? Malcolm X: As a matter of fact, I do…. Use the information in your book or any other outside source (please indicate source used) Refer to a few of their differences in your dialogue. Discuss at least 3 examples (key terms) of events during the Civil Rights Movement 1 page minimum.
