Spindletop Hill In 1901 the largest oil reserve in the world was discovered at Spindletop Hill. This event marked the end of the cattle, cotton, and railroad era and started the Age of Oil era in Texas The discovery of oil at Spindletop led to: 1.the developments of new industries 2.more people rushing to Texas during the early 1900s.
