Be Still My Soul Medley Selah
Be still, my soul
The Lord
Is on your side
Thecoss B e a r patiently
Thecoss of g r ief or pain
Leave to thy God to order andprovide
In every change
He faithful will
remain
Be still,
My soul!
Thy best,
Thy heavenly friend
Through stormy ways leads to a
joyfulend.
Be still
my soul!
The waves and winds still know (still know)
His voice who who ruled WhileHedwelt below them
Joseph M. Scriven ( ) was 25 years old, in love and to be married.
The day before his wedding his fiancé died in a tragic drowning accident.
Heartbroken, Joseph sailed from his homeland to start a new life in Canada.
While in Canada, he fell in love again and became engaged to Eliza Roche
But once again, his hopes and dreams were shattered
Eliza became ill and died before the wedding could take place.
In the midst of this time of sorrow, he penned a poem entitled What a Friend We Have in Jesus
Oh, what peace we often forfeit,
oh, what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer
Be
still
my
soul
