Nature vs Nurture Which has more influence over how you behave-- Your genetic make-up? or Your environment? Nature vs Nurture

Nature Traits that we are born with, inherited from parents Some evidence of traits prior to birth Researchers study identical twins in order to compare their tendency toward inherited traits. http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=5240527n

Nurture = Environment Inherited traits are only half of the picture. Family, friends, cultural group – all have influence on your personality. Family – teaches how to behave, good or bad Modeling – copying the behavior of others Friends / Peer group – childhood thru teenage years. Am. teens spend over 50% of their time with peers. Influence can be + or -. Culture – each culture places different value on different traits.

Which has more influence? http://video.answers.com/laurence-steinberg-on-the-nature-vs-nurture-debate-304230832 Neither! Personality is influenced by both. The environment can determine what will “set off” those things we are genetically inclined towards.
