About Me!

Family I have brother up at UNT working on his Bachelors degree and a little sister starting her sophomore year in Burleson. I come from a long line of teachers; Grandmother, two great aunts, two aunts, one uncle, mother, father, and various cousins. I live here in Carrollton with my kitty Max.

Max the Cat

Schooling I graduated DAP and in the top 5% of my class from Burleson High School. I graduated in the top of my class from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science with a minor in Chemistry and a minor in Biology. This summer I graduated from the University of North Texas with a Master’s degree in Chemistry Education.

About the Class!

Rules Be Respectful Be Prepared Be Safe Be Willing to Learn Consequences 1.Verbal warning 2.Removal from situation 3.Teacher/ Student conference 4.Detention 5.Phone call/ home 6.Office referral ***The order of consequences is subject to change at the teacher’s discretion!

Pre-AP Supplies 1. Pencil, pen and paper 2. Scientific or graphing calculator 3. Composition book for notes 4. Three-ring binder with sections for notes, homework, quizzes, labs, returned papers. – This will count as a homework grade so keep up with your work!

AP Supplies 1. Pencil, pen and paper 2. Scientific or graphing calculator 3. Composition book for lab write ups 4. Suggested: Three-ring binder with sections for homework, quizzes, labs, returned papers. 5. Students will be assigned textbooks.

Grading Formative (25%) – class work – labs – homework Very seldom will homework be graded. It is assigned so that you can master a concept that is being taught. Many times after an ungraded homework assignment, you can expect a quiz on the material. Keep the homework in your binder and check your answers either online or on one of the bulletin boards. – quizzes A quiz will often be given at the beginning of class over a homework assignment. These will be one or two questions given in a limited time frame. Quizzes may be retaken for an 80. Summative(75%) – tests – project (only one at the end of the year)

Re-Tests IF you make below an 84 on a summative grade you will have ONE, and ONLY one chance to make that up to an 85. You MUST do the following to get that chance: – Complete all formative grades – Correct the test you failed – Come to tutorials – Take new test … new test may change in format to all open ended. All of these must be done within 5 days of receiving test grade.

Extra Credit Opportunity A Mole Buck, worth 10 points on ANY grade, will be given for: – Bring to class a one item to be assigned AND -- Have a parent me at with your name as the subject.

Classroom Procedures Upon entering the classroom you should move to your seat and have classroom supplies out and ready to start class. If you need to use the bathroom you will need to give up a bathroom pass, gain permission, and take the pass. Class ends when I say it ends, i.e. wait for me to dismiss you at the bell. Seating arrangements will be assigned for the first 6 weeks. The privilege to pick your own seats can be gained for good class behavior.

Rare Event If you have your phone text (469) – – This will allow me to send texts via the web so no numbers are shared. If you do not have texting, you can sign up using the call sign above on remind101.com
