Bridging the Broadband Gap 2007 WI-PIE SERVICES by TOP-IX 14 – 15 May 2007

TOP-IX (Torino Piemonte Internet eXchange) is the geograhically distribuited NAP (Neutral Access Point) developed in all Piedmont area thanks to WI-PIE program (Strategic Line 2). What is TOP-IX

In order to promote the use and development of broadband Internet throughout the region, TOP-IX has set up the Development Program (DP); it is a facilitator for testing new technologies, solutions, operatine models and business models that use the Internet as their main tool. DP participants can use the Distribuited Platform for Innovation (based on the same WI-PIE backbone) for their test sto develop new Internet based services, accordigly to WI-PIE Strategic Line 7. Hereafter some platforms/services that are using the mentioned infrastructures.

I megatrend della banda larga  Digimaonline – A new model to distribute film to cinemas in a completely digital way (from ordering on the web to the effective distribution)  Berlinale Film Festival – The extension of normal broadcasting services with the use of Internet Streaming. Used for Berlinale Press Conferences and Red Carpet  WRAP – An open environment where existing local radios can collaborate in a B2B model. Beyond this collaboration in WRAP other forms of experimentations are possibile as new web radios creation, new formats, etc. Services (1)
