W ORK G ROUP ON E VALUATION OF NAF R EMOVAL AND W ATER - W ETTING BY S PACERS – S UMMER 2013, W ASHINGTON, DC Deryck Williams – Chairman

A GENDA J UNE 2013 Review of minutes & Schlumberger’s presentation from New Orleans Acquired a new NAF sample for round robin testing. Spacer developed by Drilling Specialties and confirmed by Chevron for the NAF sample. Investigated both Metal & Glass coupons. Ship NAF & Spacer for round robin testing.

WG ON E VALUATION OF NAF R EMOVAL AND W ATER W ETTING BY S PACERS M EETING M INUTES J AN 22 ND, 2013 Minutes: Deryck called the meeting to order at 4:00 PM. The progress of the workgroup was reviewed with discussion around the following: The capabilities of the labs to perform testing has improved and is sufficient to proceed with round robin testing A new sample of the fluid will be collected for a testing program Issues associated with coupons were discussed. Can get metal coupons from chandler Details on the glass coupons will be resent to the group Glass coupons can be sourced from Optical Instrument Lab Inc, Houston Designs of coupon holders were reviewed Quentin Barrel – Schlumberger, Clarmart presented some preliminary results Tested OBM and Spacers at 55 ⁰ C and 150 ⁰ C Investigated 4 different treatments for preparing the coupon Do nothing Use paper towel Use fresh water Use deionized water Found that the treatment with a paper towel gave favorable results Investigated both Glass and Steal Coupons Found that Glass coupons could be favorable because of its hydrophilic properties The cool down temperature was discussed. There may be a need to bring the test cell all the way to ambient before removing the coupon from the cell. Chevron will ship a sample OBM from the field and Spacer for round robin testing. Grafton Montgomery - OFITE volunteered to participate in the WG. The meeting was adjourned at 4:20 PM.
