Review of Punnett Squares Take out a blank piece of paper Set up a Punnett Square to cross a homozygous recessive parent with a heterozygous dominant parent. Show the offspring traits in each square. Be able to describe the phenotype of the offspring as a fraction.

Heading (1): Meiosis 1) Using you book, read pages ) On a clean piece of paper with Heading (1) on it answer the following: 1) Define Meiosis 2) What is the Chromosome Theory of Inheritance? 3) How many chromosomes does a human body cell have? Human sex cells?

Answers… 1) Meiosis is the process by which the number of chromosomes is reduced by half to form sex cells – sperm and egg. 2) The Chromosome Theory of Inheritance states that genes are carried from parents to offspring on chromosomes. 3) There are 46 chromosomes in body cells and 23 chromosomes in sex cells.
