Presentation transcript:

The Weatherization Assistance Program reduces energy for low-income families:

the Elderly,

the disabled,

and children.

Through the installation of energy efficiency measures,

Through the installation of energy efficiency measures, we ensure their health and safety.

Low-income families typically spend 17% of their total income on energy

vs. 4% for other households.

Each family averages $344* in first-year energy savings. *Calculated 2009 based on 20-year EIA annual price projection discounted to present value.

Weatherizing these homes reduces the energy costs for families

who are often forced to choose between heat

and other necessities.

We work in all types of homes: single-family,

multi-family,

and mobile homes.

These are among the things we find:

So this is what we do.

We make it warmer in the winter,

and cooler in the summer.

Carbon dioxide emissions are reduced by an average of 1.79 tons in every home annually.

Gas space heating is reduced by an average of 32%.

For every $1.00 invested,

$1.65 is created in benefits.

Weatherization requires skilled workers to carry out the program, putting people back to work.

These are “green jobs” — jobs that reduce total energy use and environmental impact on the planet.

These jobs cannot be exported.

Since 1976, men and women have been making Weatherization Work!

So far, over 6.2 million homes have been served by the Weatherization Program.

On a national level, 38 million homes are eligible for it.

So we work...

and work…
