3. Strengthening Toxicology Training Issues Increase academic partnering with government and industry to evolve training to meet new demands. Secure increased funding for research and training. Enhance the exposure of students and fellows to the professional experience and demands.

Strengthening Toxicology Training Identified Needs Undergrad Tox curriculum developed with industry/government partners Internships and coops (eg, semester with industry) Communication of funding opportunities (awareness of resources) Graduate Support for practical training in industry/government Support for mentor and student during internships PostDoc & Retention/Retraining Webinars/courses to teach practical skills (budget/people mgmt) Support for certification / credentials (eg, PMP)

Discussion What can SOT do to improve the resources and enhance training opportunities for toxicologists? Sponsor tox curricular content that bridge disciplines Provide “umbrella” for awareness of opportunities for facilitating industry/government/academic partnerships Advocate for value of toxicology and toxicology education opportunities in various federal and industry-funded programs Value toxicology in top-tier priorities for funding organizations (NIH, NIEHS, BWFund, etc) 3.
