Treaty of St. Germain Nikki Damiano

The Countries Created by it…… With the breakup of Europe after the first world war many sovereign states were created. Some of the countries formed from the fall of the Austrian-Hungarian empire were Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and Yugoslavia.

How many people lived in Austria after the treaty? After losing land in the treaty Austria’s population was diminished to seven million people.

Which country benefited from this treaty? Italy, they received South Tyrol for defeating Austria’s army.

What were the consequences of this treaty? For Austria they not only lost land, but were also forced to pay a sum of money for the losses of other nations. Austria also had to place limits on its army.

How did Austria respond? Austria after dealing with its war losses expressed a longing to join with Germany, however the Treaty of Versailles prohibited them from joining together.
