APPR OVERVIEW All New York State schools must differentiate teacher and principal effectiveness using four categories: Highly Effective, Effective, Developing, Ineffective The law specifies that at least 40% of a teacher’s and principal’s score should be derived from student achievement data. 2
HOW WAS THE KLSD STATE APPROVED PLAN DEVELOPED A committee comprised of teachers and building and district level administrators worked collaboratively to develop the plan that was approved during the summer of Likewise, the Principal APPR plan was developed collaboratively between the district and building level administration. 3
HOW IS THE PLAN DIFFERENT THAN THE CURRENT PLAN? The most significant change to the teacher plan relates to our categorization of Lead Evaluators. The new plan expands this pool to include Assistant Principals and Directors. There were no significant changes to the Principal APPR plan. 4

NEXT STEPS As of September 1, we must re-certify our APPR Plans for the school year to the New York State Education Department. Once we have received and processed all data from the current school year we will use that to drive any future changes to the plan. 11
