Tim Samuel Guest Lecturer Tim Samuel is CPA & CFO for Bridgeway Community Church. Located in Columbia, Maryland, Bridgeway is a non- denominational, multicultural church led by founding pastor and author on race relations, Dr. David Anderson. Celebrating the diversity of colors, classes and cultures has made Bridgeway an international model for multicultural ministry that attracts over 3,500 people from over 50 nations. Tim also serves at the treasurer to Grassroots Crisis Intervention and as a board member to ACS Howard County.

Class 1—Financial Strategy An often-overlooked area is financial strategy in the church. What would a five-year forecast of your financial condition look like? This would include both income projections and expenses. Those expenses need to include staff and facility/technology upgrades. Have you considered the shelf life of your video projectors, digital mixers, cameras and other relatively short-life technology? We spell that “expensive!” You need to consider how to convert church vision into quantifiable financial plans. A necessity is to define “return on investment” or “return on ministry.” This lesson will examine these issues and other financial strategies.

Operations 104: Class 1-Financial Strategy

Different data surveys give different stories. Which forecast will you base your church on?

Scripture Genesis 41:36-40 This food should be held in reserve for the country, to be used during the seven years of famine that will come upon Egypt, so that the country may not be ruined by the famine.” The plan seemed good to Pharaoh and to all his officials. So Pharaoh asked them, “Can we find anyone like this man, one in whom is the spirit of God?” Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has made all this known to you, there is no one so discerning and wise as you. You shall be in charge of my palace, and all my people are to submit to your orders. Only with respect to the throne will I be greater than you.”
