THE ANCIENT TIMES IN SPAIN By Laura.G, Christian, Sandra, and Rafa

WHAT WERE ANCIENT TIMES? Ancient times is a period that began about 900 years before the birth of Christ, with the introduction of writing on the Iberian Peninsula.It ended in the year 476 after Christ, with the end of the Roman Empire.

THE IBERIANS - They lived on the mediterranean coastal areas in the Guadalquivir valley and in parts of the centre of the Peninsula. - They planted crops and raised livestock. They were traders. They invented their own writing system and created high – quality works of art, such as the Dama de Baza.

THE CELTS They came to the peninsula from central Europe.They settled in the north and in the Douro and Ebro Valleys. They did an alliance with the Iberians that lived in the centre of the Peninsula, and called it the celtiberians

THE ROMAN EMPIRE The roman empire started in the 8 century.The romans lived where Italy is located today. The roman empire extended to parts of Europe, Africa and Asia.They were very educated and advanced people.The roman empire finished in 476.

THE ROMAN EMPIRE The romans conquered a large portion of the Iberian Peninsula, which they called Hispania. The Roman Empire ended in 476 after Christ when they were invaded by Germanic people.

ROMANISED HISPANIA They romans gave us: -The language: Spanish comes from Latin -Their way of life : urban and comercial. -The religion: The christianism

The Romans built many cities, roads, theatres, bathhouses, temples and acueducts.
