Inventories Carried Out Workshops in Galway and Belfast Eastern Area Inventory – 09/07 Southern Area Inventory – 05/2007 Questionnaire, Regional Convention 2007

According to Data gathered the Consensus is…. People not taking responsibility Not enough people doing service People not understanding their role Not enough handover/mentoring Newcomers not properly welcomed Few experienced members at groups Break downs in communication between Region/Area/Groups/Individuals Few crèche facilities Few social events Intimidating personalities Inappropriate behaviour in meetings Inappropriate outside meeting i.e. gossiping, clicks etc. Poor communication

Results Regional Questionnaire Most people don’t know how the Region serves the areas, or how we manage our money Would like to see: more protection from 13th steppers, inappropriate behaviour, more step meetings Who's missing from our meetings: old timers and young people, travellers, women with clean time, foreign nationals PR work: more advertising, more speaking engagements, information DVD H&I: For it to continue to grow – there are still many institutions without activity

Recommendations for EASC following Inventory  Proper election procedures  Make positions clear  Stager election schedules  Foster the concept of home groups  Develop a pool of mentors  Info package for new office holders  Encourage Gars to conduit info to best of ability  Encourage attendance at group conscience - preamble  More workshops on building stronger groups  Training days  Encourage people to read a guide to local services
