New Berlin West Theatre Arts Program TAP Blithe Spirit – November ! Charles Condomine is an author. To research a book, he and his 2 nd wife Ruth invite a medium to a dinner party at their home. Dr. and Mrs. Bradman are also invited to witness the séance by Madame Arcati. During the séance, Madame Arcati opens a portal to the other side whereby Elvira, Charles’ 1 st wife, comes back from the grave. Edith, the new maid-servant, also witnesses the challenges of the new house guest. This experience creates new challenges for Charles, that provide inspiration to Charles in his understanding of relationships, his work and himself – the Renaissance Man. Set in the 1940s, this comedy is filled with delicious language, comedy and drama.
