 Mt. Fuji began forming as a mountain around 6 hundred thousand years ago.

 Longitude E  Latitude N

 Something very interesting about Mt. Fuji is that Mt. Fuji is actually three volcanoes one on top of another. Mt. Fuji on top, then Mt. Kofuji in the middle, then Mt. Komitake on the bottom.  The type of plate boundary is Convergent plate boundary.  The type of fault is Reverse fault.  The type of stress is Compression stress.

 Highest Elevation- 12,388 ft. (5,776 m.)  Steepest Slope- Steepest slope is near the top where the mountain & volcano meet.  Lowest Elevation- 4,724 ft.  Contour Line Scale- 1,640 ft.

 Did you know… › That the Japanese characters for Fuji means “wealth” or “abundance” and “man with a high status” › Fuji is an active volcano, though it is classified as having a low risk of eruption. The last recorded eruption started on December 16, 1707, and ended on New Year's Day of › The summit of Fuji is high enough to induce altitude sickness.
