IT Club Workbench BY Chris Sorensen Mike Hockenberry Brendon Andrews

What exactly is it? We will be making a troubleshooting desk for the IT Club to help students and staff with their computers. It will be good experience for the first year students. The workbench will make a good edition to the IT Club at South Hills, not only for troubleshooting but for general assembly of computers.

What is the point of this? Proper tools needed for the IT Club all in one convenient place. Organized and safe work place for electronics. It will help the IT Club be more efficient in fixing student/ staff computers We will now be able to advertise around the school that the IT Club will diagnose and attempt to fix your computer for free.

Troubleshooting hardware ESD mat Hand held tools, Screw/torx Drivers, suction cups, pry tools, heat gun, wire cutters, tweezers, small scissors, heat tape, multi-meter, compressed air, small brush. Testing computer (Specifications on next slide) HDD Cloning dock. Dock will include two bay slots for transferring and cloning data. It will support 2.5” & 3.5” HDD’s, supporting USB 2.0 and eSATA.

Other hardware included in the build There will be an overhead light attached to the frame of the hutch. There will be small drawers for screws and components on top of the desk. There will be a hutch comprised of peg board and a frame for bin storage and hand tool storage. There will be a cable management hole in the back right of the desk. There will be a swing arm for the monitor to attach to the side of the desk. There will be rails for the keyboard and mouse to slide under the desk.

Testing computer The testing computer will be used for virus removal, testing dead HDD’s, and other dead components such as video cards, NIC cards, monitors, RAM, fans, and wiring. Installed software includes: Malware Bytes, Avast, and Sea Tools for troubleshooting software.
