Public Universities in California UC 10 campuses Apply Nov 1-Nov 30 (senior year) SAT Reasoning or ACT with Writing Personal Statement 3.0+ GPA (10-11th A-G courses) $70/campus application fee waiver (online) Comprehensive ReviewCSU 23 campuses Apply Oct 1-Nov 30 (senior year) SAT Reasoning or ACT (no writing req.) Min. 2.0 GPA (10-11 A-G courses) Eligibility Index $55/campus; application fee waiver (online)

New UC Admissions Policy (2012) No SAT Subject Exams required (removed “unnecessary barrier”) ELC top 9% of HS (undisclosed benchmark GPA) Statewide path- top 9% CA Must have 11 of the 15 A-G courses completed by end of junior year. All students meeting requirements will receive a comprehensive review UC freshman profile: 24 A-G courses complete 3.86 GPA 1782 SAT; 26 ACT

SAT / ACT Colleges accept highest score of either SAT or ACT. UC’s – use highest sitting CSU’s and most privates – best combo score Deadline for testing- November/December!! TEST SCORES MUST BE SENT DIRECTLY FROM TESTING AGENCY !! (ie, Collegeboard or ACT.org) ◦ CSU CODE ◦ NCAA ◦ UC’s- List one school then give permission on college application to share with all campuses.

FINANCIAL AID DO NOT DISMISS APPLYING TO A COLLEGE BECAUSE YOU THINK IT’S TOO EXPENSIVE!!! January 1- March 2: FAFSA application period Financial Aid Night – January 13 th / 6:30pm at OVHS

Community College (Coastline Community College District) (California Community Colleges) California Community Colleges Local, inexpensive option to continue schooling Wide choice of programs to enter vocational fields or transfer to four-year universities. Admission Requirements: ◦ HS graduate or 18+ ◦ No SAT/ACT ◦ Placement test in Spring (SOAR) ◦ CA community college students receive priority transfer to UC/CSU’s!

Final Thoughts Keep copies of everything!! Senior year DOES COUNT! All acceptances conditional dependent on final grades and maintaining same level of eligibility. Change in schedule- students MUST notify colleges; better yet- ask permission first!
