The need for an instrument such as Telemedicine is strongly felt. However it seems to be difficult to go beyond the prototype stages in order to make this kind of medical provision a "practical system".

FINAL EVENT - Venice, 23rd & 24th January Conclusions 1.Through the Consorzio Telemedicina, our aim is to provide direct answers to all organizational, semantic, and proceduralproblems linked to telemedicine. 2.An organization such as ours, which governs over four million potential users, should steer political choices, form markets and guide the markets towards standardisation processes. 3.Our aim is to be able to offer integrated services which give qualified, ready and sure answers to a new kind of user: a kind of user who wants to be kept informed and who demands more and more accessible quality healthcare, in a world where travel is a critical factor.
