ADVANCED IMPROV – INTRO TO COURSE SYLLABUS, NORMS, AND OTHER IMPORTANT INFO

RULES FOR THE ROOM (NORMS) 1)Take responsibility for your own learning and the steps necessary to accomplish it. 2)Help each other to become more skilled artists/performers. 3)Respect the room, each other, and the art form. 4)Follow the Policies/Procedures (outlined in the handout) 5)Be an active participant in classroom activities. 6)Take calculated and intelligent risks in performance.

ENDURING UNDERSTANDING Improvisational Theatre and sketch comedy expresses ideas and conveys messages to an audience. Personal opinions and ideas are expressed through improvisational theatre and sketch comedy. Improvisational theatre and sketch comedy reflects other cultures, historical periods, and disciplines.

ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS How will creativity shape a performance? How is an artist reflected in his/her art? How does communication and cooperation impact good improvisation? How does collaboration support theatricality? What personal attributes does a performer need?
