Clean draft 1: 25 minutes Choose a partner. Trade speeches. Read each other’s speeches and jot down a few notes on the speaker’s purpose. Read each other’s essays. * paragraphs that are insightful and that give an excellent discussion of what the author did and why he/she did it. Discuss sections of the speech your partner may have failed to discuss or sections that your partner misunderstood. Discuss sections of the essay that were excellent. Discuss sections of the essay that need more analysis or a more thorough explanation.

Clean draft 2: 20 minutes Choose a partner. Trade speeches. Read each other’s speeches and jot down a few notes on the speaker’s purpose. Read each other’s essays. * paragraphs that are insightful and that give an excellent discussion of what the author did and why he/she did it. No sentence should begin with a citation/ “ ” Put periods and commas inside quotation marks. Read from back to front. Check for run-on sentences. Check for missing commas.
