Welcome to 2 nd Grade!

Daily Routines Your child may have all three 2 nd grade teachers during the week. Students will switch classes for Reading and Math. Students will rotate classrooms for Social Studies, Science, and Accelerated Math. Classes will rotate to PE, Art, Music, and Arts/Humanities each week. Our planning is from 10:35 – 11:15.

Attendance Attendance is very important to ensure your child’s success. If absent, please send an excuse within 5 days. Students are allowed 6 parent notes per school year. All other absences will require a doctor’s note.

2 nd Grade Daily Routines Agendas will be checked by the homeroom teacher each morning. Students can choose to eat a free breakfast each morning. Breakfast will not be served after 7:45 a.m. Morning Work - students will have a short assignment to complete when they arrive.

Detention Not having cub cash. Misbehavior. Missing 2 or more assignments per week (includes homework).

Homework Students will have either have a Math review sheet or fact practice each night. Students will have a spelling list and a story to read each week – tests on Fridays. Students should be reading A.R. library books each night. Additional assignments may be given.

Accelerated Reader Students will be assigned a goal each nine weeks based on their reading ability. Students will read books on their level. Students are given limited class- time to read and take tests daily. Students will earn rewards for making their goal.

Celebrations All food items must be store bought and prepackaged. Creekside’s Wellness Policy asks for healthy food items. Cub Cash Auctions – December and May Items donated must be new.

Other Important Information Scholastic Insurance – affordable insurance that covers any school accidents Complete volunteer background checks if interested in volunteering. If you pick-up your child, you will be asked to show I.D. Doors will be open the first week only. Afterwards, all visitors must sign in at the office.
