Restaurants (breakfast): Hearth 'N Kettle - on route 28, heading toward Hyannis (about 10 minutes from the cottage) Breakfast Room - same as above (about 5 minutes from the cottage) Grumpy's - more of a "neighborhood place", on the north side of the Cape (take 134 north - back over the highway - and keep going a few miles until you get to 6A. Take a left there, and it's just up on the right. About 10 minutes from the cottage) Stuff to Do (daytime): The beach (obviously !). Couple of small ones within walking distance (1/2 mile), and the big town one about a 1 1/2 miles away. Go down to Hyannis, and check out Main Street and the Docks. While in Hyannis, take a tour on the Duckmobile (it's one of those vehicles that can ride on both land and in water - little ones love it !). Take a ferry ride over to Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket for the day (ferries leave from Hyannis) Check out Monomy Island. It's a beach over in Chatham, that's only accessible by boat. You'll get dropped off there, and call later when you're ready to head back. The neat thing about it is that seals will swim by in the ocean, while you're there. Go to Nauset Beach (over in Orleans). It's on the ocean side, and is awesome. About a 20 minute ride from here. (Route 6 E to exit 12, and follow the signs) Take a ride up to Provincetown. Always something "interesting" to see there ! Wouldn't recommend going after dark, though ;). Dick & Ellie's Flea Market. A good way to spend a couple of hours in the morning. They got a bunch of vendors, and also have a few fun things for little ones to do (free mini golf, some of those inflatable 'houses', etc.). Head back up 134 (towards the highway), and it's on the right (before you get to Stop & Shop) If the weather's 'crappy', you can check out the Zooquarium (combination zoo & aquarium; it's on route 28, towards Hyannis), take in a movie (next door to Stop & Shop), or check out the mall in Hyannis (there’s a movie theater there too). Play a round of miniature golf (there's a bunch of them along route 28, heading towards Hyannis) Go shopping at the Christmas Tree Shops or Cuffy's (a great place for tee-shirts and sweats) -- there's a bunch of both up here Grab lunch at the Dog House (within walking distance, on the way back from the beach). Great hot dogs and clam fritters ! Stuff to Do (nighttime): Go to Sundancers. Most popular bar nearby (sometimes a younger crowd though). It's on route 28, heading towards Hyannis (about 5 minutes from the cottage) Go to the Sand Dollar. Restaurant during the day; bar at night. Within walking distance (on Lower County Road). They also have kid karaoke on Tuesday's (starts at 6, I think) Head into Hyannis, and check out the bar scene (and restaurants) on Main Street. Improper Bostonian, Harry's Blues Bar, etc. Check out a show at the Cape Cod Melody Tent (in Hyannis). Good places for dinner: Clancy's (there's a casual one within walking distance, and a nicer one a few miles away -- both have great seafood); Acapulco’s (a Mexican restaurant on route 28, heading towards Hyannis); and the All American Pub (on 134, just north of the intersection with wide variety of food, and a small bar area to hang out in later on - only about a mile from here). I'd avoid Rum Runners (it's a bar across the street from the Sand Dollar). It's a bit more of a ‘local crowd' over there.
