Are you on track for your SF Bac Have you been collecting hours for your SF Bac certificate? UCAS application may be over but are you aware of how useful this will be for your future job applications? Are you aware you can use your testimonial certificate which will list all the activities you took part in alongside your CV? Subjects: Is your attendance over 90%? Skills subjects and extra activities – You need to build 200 hours over 2 years from skills subjects and extra activities combined – Skills subjects: You are bound to have earned at least 100 hours by the time you complete your course through tutorial attendance and attendance of any skills subjects – We will not worry about tallying skills hours today – Most student will be aiming for around hours of extra activities over and above their college subjects (40 – 50 per year)
Tally up your enrichment hours so far 1.Check your scanned sport hours on your profile 2.Estimate the hours you have spent other activities at college e.g. Dance, student union 3.Estimate the number of hours you have spent on enrichment outside college e.g. Part time job/ your work experience placement 4.Tell your tutor how many hours you have and estimate how many you still need to achieve the SF Bac 5.List all activities you have taken part in on the values record page of your SF Bac booklet (2011 – 2013 booklet) 6.Make sure you find the correct person to get evidence of your involvement as listed on the ‘values’ page 7.If you want or need to, sign up for extra activities at the enrichment fair on Thursday 6 February * see next slide for practical details Total = 75 This student needs 25 hours to make 100

What happens now? Your SF Bac booklet should be completed including all year 1 and year 2 hours and handed in to your tutor at the end of this term (week of 25 March – just before the spring break) Your tutor will hand your booklet to the SF Bac co-ordinator Colette Du Bois You might want to concentrate on exams and final assignment deadlines, but any extra activity hours you earn after this point can be added in by showing your evidence directly to Colette Du Bois by 30 June Remember if you have gone OVER and ABOVE the requirements, your tutor can put you forward for the SF BAC with commendations and even a Newvic Special Award at prize giving if you are deserving
Lastly Tell your tutor that you are planning to achieve your SF Bac so she can write this on her spreadsheet.
