Senate Update

FY12 Motions

S-1210: Determination of Number of RCRs Pros The amount of work RCR’s do is directly correlated to the number of sections in the region, not to the number of members in their region Gives RCRs more time and opportunity in helping sections not in good standing to become in good standing, increase the vitality of all sections and be able to mentor each section. There is concern the EIN information problem, that is very time consuming for RCRs, will eventually lessen but over the last few years it hasn’t and may not due to the inevitable turnover in collegiate leadership, both in the sections and Region Collegiate Team (RCT). Cons Communication and organization of responsibilities between 3 RCRs may be rather difficult. There will need to be an increase in funding at CLF to accommodate the additional RCRs. Basing representation on sections instead of membership could lead to a culture where inactive collegiate section not in good standing would not be put through the deactivation process in order to artificially inflate the numbers RCRs in a region. This change may also remove an incentive for collegiate sections to recruit and retain members. Revision to article VI section 4.A.3: Change the calculation method for number of RCRs from quantity of collegiate members to quantity of collegiate sections

S-1210: Determination of Number of RCRs Motion was amended to a max of two collegiate representatives and referred to committee for further discussion.
