NFL Concussions By Holt Mathies

NFL Players Players in the NFL get paid over 90 million dollars per year. I think when they get head injuries they should pay with their own money to cure their injuries. However, I think they should make safer helmets with the NFL’s money. The NFL is banning players for hitting hard to the head and all over. The penalties need to be stronger or players are just going to come back and hit hard again. Even though football is about hitting, the hits have to be legal not dangerous, especially to the head. The NFL in the season spent 14 million dollars on concussions and research funds to help the NFL players.

Brain Damage Former NFL Star Brett Farve who had tons of concussions in his NFL career has brain damage in his head. He says to ESPN ‘’I am never letting my kids play football’’. When you get brain damage you have major behavior changes in your brain like former Pittsburgh Steeler Mike Webster. He had behavior problems like depression because he got brain damage. He lost all of his money, his wife and home. He eventually lived in a bus at a terminal. He lost everything because his brain was damaged in football. Junior Seau played for San Diego and out of no where committed suicide. They studied his brain after he died and there was major damage from all the hits he took playing football.

NFL Players with concussions I told you about concussions in the NFL, now I’m going to list some players who have suffered one or more. Adrain Peterson, Sidney Rice, Brett Farve, Mike Webster, Alex Smith, Jason Avant, Dallas Clark Junior Seau, Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, Michael Strahan That is some but definitely not all. Players with NFL concussions feel a lot of pain going through their head. When you have a concussion sometimes you don’t even know were or who you are.

10 ways you have a concussion Blurry or fuzzy eye vision Feeling slowed down Difficulty thinking Dizziness More moody Sleeping less than usual Headache Trouble falling asleep Balance problems Feeling sick to your stomach

SAFER NFL!! One day you are a NFL star the next day your are in a dark room with pain all over your body and nothing to do for a month. That does not seem right. Let’s make the NFL a safer game today.
