High Score Or Game Over? By: Jack Piersol

Oh, hello. As you may have guessed, this is an argument about video games and their effects on people. I myself support video games for a number of reasons, even if there are some things I don’t like them for. Let me essay show you what I’m talking about.

THE PRO’S THE CON’S  Video games help with hand- eye coordination and improve reflexes.  They can improve your vocabulary.  Certain games have math and brain improving puzzles.  Many games are good for your mind.  Video games can be addictive and results in wasting a lot of time.  They supposedly “rot your brain.”  Can be violent (but most can handle it.)

Now if those pro’s and con’s didn’t convince you, maybe these facts will % of U.S. adolescents play video games. 2. Video games are the fastest growing type of entertainment in the world and has been growing ever since the early 1980’s. 3. Most people ages 8-18 play an average of 13.2 hours per week. 4. This study found that, compared to teens that didn’t play video games, teens that did reported more family closeness, higher involvement in activities, greater attachment to school and positive mental health.

Now that we have all the information down, we can put it together and get a main idea from all this. If you still don’t like video games now, I don’t know what will make you change your mind about them. Video games help with many things, such as reflexes and hand-eye coordination, but should be played in moderate amounts. There you have it folks, thanks for reading!
