How to Learn More All Players United! Players Want a Voice! What’s Going On? Picture this! Picture This! Picture this. You’ve worked your whole life training and practicing to have a chance to play college sports. Now you’re here. You work more than 40 hours a week training and practicing so your school can make money. You make millions for your college and you get none of it. What if that was you? What would you think? A surging question is should college athletes get a certain amount of the money that they make for there college and the NCAA, but keep there Scholarships? Power Words : Surging- Something increasing. : Scholarship- a sum of money or granted to a student, because of athletics, need, etc., to pursue his or her studies. Go on the internet and say what you think. Everyone should have a voice.

Picture This! Players Want a Voice! All Players United! Players Want a Voice What’s Going On? How To Learn More A couple of players from Northwestern University have voted to form a union where they have a voice. As NPR’ S David Schaper said on Morning Edition “ The players argue they’re not just students who play sports, but employees who work more than 40 hours a week for there University, training, practicing, and playing in games that they can have career ending injures, but meanwhile the school brings in millions of dollars from the games. The scholarships that many receive don’t fully reflect there value to the school, the players argue.” Power Words! University- an institution of higher education having authority to award bachelors' and higher degrees, usually having research facilities. Union- the act of uniting two or more things. Scholarship- a sum of money or granted to a student, because of athletics, need, etc., to pursue his or her studies. Northwestern players wear America flag jerseys to show there support to the military, and to show we are all united!

All Players United! Players Want A Voice How To Learn More Picture This What’s Going On? Three months before the Northwestern players spoke out, players from Grambling State University refused to play a game because they were upset with the conditions at the training facilities. It also follows last seasons silent expression that players should be sharing more success in College Football. Some players all over the country wore “ APU” ( which stands for all players united) wristbands to show their support. Power Words Success- the attainment of wealth, position, honors, or the like. United- made into or caused to act as a single entry These are the “All Players United” Players wore!

What’s Going On? All Players United Players Want A Voice! How To Learn More! Picture This! Here’s a statistic to show how under- privileged these athletes are. The combined 2011 salaries of just the highest-paid college football coaches is 53.4 million dollars, but the combined salaries of the 13,877 divison I college football players is 0.
