Welcome to Marketing Strategy 626 How to use our blog: 1 You might already be an experienced blogger. Please read this anyway to learn more about our blog. You might be new to blogs. Definitely read this so you can get started with confidence. By the time we’re done, I hope that all of us (even me!) are making better use of blogs and the resources available to us online.

How to Use our Blog For starters, go online and sign on: 2

How to Use our Blog This blog has several pages of content. I want to keep things simple and organized so you can get in and out quickly or browse around at your convenience. Some of these pages will just be informative (e.g., COURSE SCHEDULE and YOUR WEEKLY HANDOUT ). Some of these pages a place for you to submit your work (e.g., INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE! ). Some pages, I hope, will be interactive, like discussion boards (but simpler) where you can leave your comments and others can share opinions as well. I’ll update and add to the pages as needed. 3

You can receive updates on our blog via . AND you can be like me and check the blog every day too! 4

Assignments Some assignments, like SOL, can easily be submitted as “Comments” while others, you will have to send to me as an attachment. I’ll let you know which approach I prefer for a particular assignment. 5

Participation Throughout the semester I’ll post items that I think you’ll find to be educational and interesting. Here, you can participate by sharing your thoughts, responding, and keeping our conversations moving forward and in new directions. 6

When do I have to participate? I measure participation each week, and weeks run from Tuesday through Monday this semester I’ll update different pages on a regular basis, the pages that end with a (!) in their title You don’t have to add comments on the same day as me, but it always helps to keep our conversations fresh and timely 7

Some areas are meant to educate in a way that goes beyond marketing. Share your knowledge and teach your classmates. 8

Each week I will leave material for you to download, including PowerPoint “lectures” meant to supplement that week’s reading assignment. 9 These will be on Blackboard

This is where I’ll post updates to our course calendar… You can download documents and PowerPoint slides right off the blog! 10

Participation In this online class, your opportunities for participation are at your convenience, and I try to offer many opportunities for you to make your voice heard. No cold calls. No surprises. Not so much pressure. No chance of you not hearing the question. Think about your comment and post it. See what others have to say about it, then comment again. 11 When you sign up, include a picture (or a hand -picked symbol) so we know what look like

Value Added! I’ll put links to some of my favorite sites here for you, and I hope you’ll let me know about sites that you find useful. I call that “facilitation,” YOUR value-adding activity that makes our material easier for me to teach and easier for you and your colleagues to learn! 12 Any questions? Contact me via or phone ( ) or the See you online!
