Direct Objects Who/what is receiving the action.

What is the direct object? I sing songs every Sunday. We tell the kids stories before bed. Linda helps her dad with the dishes. Do you have to make your bed everyday? Did they study the vocab last night? I teach you Spanish.

What is the direct object pronoun? I sing THEM every Sunday. We tell THEM to the kids before bed. Linda helps HIM with the dishes. Do you have to make IT everyday? Did they study IT last night? I teach you IT.

Les pronoms des objets directs They TAKE THE PLACE of nouns. Do NOT say/write a DOP and the noun it is replacing…you would end up saying…

I have it the homework. You visit her your friend. We attend them the parties.

Where do DOP go? In front of the words, “Voici” and “Voilà” Me voici (Here I am) Le voilà! (There he (it) is!) In front of the conjugated verb I speak it (French). French= le français Replace it with “le” Je le parle.

FAITES ATTENTION: However, pay attention to this: I study it. (French) Je l’étudie. Note that the “le” became “l’” because of the fact that “étudie” begins with an “é”.

PLEASE NOTE: These verbs take direct objects. attendre (to wait for) écouter ( to listen to) chercher ( to look for) demander (to ask for) payer (to pay for) regarder (to look at)
