Why Moodle Stats?  Need to quantify usage in order to measure impact  Moodle’s built-in statistics reports have the following limitations: –Moodle user account required to run reports –Only administrators can run site-level reports –Fixed set of date ranges over which reports can be run –Only formats available are line graph and table –Cannot define custom reports 12 October 2014 | slide 2

Moodle Stats Project  Aim was to design an intuitive, customisable application for reporting on Moodle usage.  Microsoft Access 2007 was chosen because of its familiar interface and relatively widespread availability as part of the Office 2007 suite.  Design phase ran from November 2010 to June  Collaborated with four FE colleges to develop reports.  Application and documentation are available to any learning provider in the region upon request.  Providers are free to further customise the application to suit their requirements October 2014 | slide 3

Benefits of Moodle Stats  Moodle user account NOT required  Reports can be run over any date range  Reports can be run at site-, category-, course-, resource- or student-level  Reports in pie or column chart, line graph or tabular formats  Reports can be exported to PDF for distribution 12 October 2014 | slide 4
