What can we do? Provide all stakeholders with adequate training. – Make them aware of the risks and how to avoid them. Safe practice, configuring settings? – Make them aware of support and reporting procedures available. – Make them aware of all relevant policies and procedures. – Make them aware of their duty of care to others and the relevant legislation: Data Protection 1998 Copyright Act 1998 Protection from Harassment Act 1997 Sex Discrimination Act 1975 Race discrimination act 1976 Defamation Act (1996) Computer Misuse Act (1990) Go to View > Header & Footer to edit October 12, 2014 | slide 2

What can we do? Form a cross institutional working group – Risk assessment Identify risk and its nature Identify the impact, likelihood of each risk. Classify each risk (colour code, numerical ranking) Identify who has a responsibility for that risk. Log a review date against each risk. Specify the risk reduction processes for each risk. – Policies and Procedures All policies should reviewed on a regular bases and reflect changes in the innovative use of technology.
