 Worcestershire is split into 6 Districts – Bromsgrove, Malvern Hills, Redditch, Worcester, Wychavon and Wyre Forest. There are 4 places allocated to young people from each District, with members elected for 3 years.  Meetings of the Youth Cabinet are held once a month, where a wide range of issues that are important to young people are discussed. Members discuss any projects or campaigns that are being worked on as well as any other issues that are raised. Often meetings focus on a particular theme, with those who work in these areas invited along to hear the views of young people.

 Why would I want to be on the Youth Cabinet or UKYP? Being on Youth Cabinet or Youth Parliament is a great opportunity to have your say and make a difference for all young people in Worcestershire. Through this there will be opportunities for you to gain new skills and experiences, as well as learning about how decisions are made and how you're able to influence this. You'll also get to meet new people, make friends and hopefully have fun!  Will I get any help? Support will be provided the whole time you are involved with the Youth Cabinet or UKYP from the Youth Voice Team.  When are the meetings? Youth Cabinet and UKYP meetings are usually held in the evenings for around two hours. Other meetings also tend to be held in the evenings although some activities take place at the weekends or during school holidays. Occasionally opportunities arise during the day in term time – we try to keep these to a minimum and always seek permission from both parents and schools.

 How do I get to meetings? If you need transport to get to a meeting then we can arrange this for you with one of our approved taxi firms, or if you are able to use public transport we will refund the cost of this for you.  Will it cost me anything? Members of Youth Cabinet and UKYP don’t get paid, but it shouldn’t cost anything to be involved and we will cover any expenses or ensure that you have access to everything required for the role.  Can I stand for both Youth Cabinet and UKYP? Yes, you can stand for election for both the Youth Cabinet and UKYP, but if you do get elected to both of these then you have to decide which role to take on. Members of Youth Cabinet are elected for 3 years, while the term of office for MYPs is 2 years; however you then have an opportunity to sit on the Cabinet for a further year.

 Young people write a manifesto  We get some professionals to produce posters with your manifesto on.  In January we will be contact lots of schools, youth centres, libraries etc to get them involved in the voting  The Vote Period is 27th January – 10th Feb.  On the 21 st February we have a massive vote county  On 1 st March we announce the results at a special event
