B IG L OCAL 10 year programme Community driven Builds on local talents and aspirations Creates changes that will last Better places to live now and in the future What is Big Local? Programme that feels and acts local at all times

B IG L OCAL New organisation is being set up to deliver Big Local Consortium led by the Community Development Foundation (CDF) chosen by the Big Lottery Fund to do this CDF and partners will deliver initial stages of Big Local Who is running Big Local? CDF and partners

B IG L OCAL At least £1 million available to each area to fund activities to meet the agreed community plan The money can be used in different ways: grants, investments, loans, and support Loans mean money can come back to Big Local and be reused in the local area again How much money is available? How can local areas use it?

B IG L OCAL Long term Support, challenge and encouragement for local people to take ownership of Big Local Unique programme of activity in each area but sharing Big Local outcomes What will Big Local look like in local areas? Outcome focused approach – not a one size fits all model

B IG L OCAL How will Big Local work in each area? We will support each local area to run Big Local themselves so that it: Responds to local needs Builds on local strengths Each local area will follow a staged process in order to do this... Local solutions to local problems – all parts of the community engaged

B IG L OCAL Getting people involved Exploring community visions Creating a local partnership Developing a community plan Implementing the community plan Assessing impact Reviewing the community plan and local partnership

B IG L OCAL Criteria: At least eight founding members Majority (at least 51%) of members to be individuals who normally live and/or work within the boundaries of the local area Individuals who are typical of the range of people who live in the area A majority of people there in their own right, rather than representing organisations Responsibilities: Overall development of Big Local to meet the long term community vision and outcomes of Big Local Produce the first community plan to meet the long term community vision and outcomes of Big Local Engage with all members of the community, enabling them to influence the direction of the partnership and therefore Big Local Learn about the good strategic financial management of the funds Promote the community plan and funding available to implement it Work with us to establish criteria for decision making on grant and social investment applications Monitor Big Local activities and report to us Local partnership

B IG L OCAL Advising local areas about Big Local Linking the £10k of investment with the rest of the monies Supporting local areas in developing plans for the next £20k Helping to establishing a local partnership Moving the area forward Big Local representatives Representatives are responsible for: Each area will have one! Allocated to local areas For the short term

B IG L OCAL A total of £30,000 for each local area Round 1 administered by Big Lottery Fund, Round 2 administered by CDF Round 2 will feed into initial stages of Big Local Areas can apply for round 2 once round 1 funding is spent and signed off by BIG Big Local representatives will support involving local people, community visioning and creating a local partnership Round 2 will be a rolling programme with no closing date Round 2 guidance notes available mid / late July Getting People Involved
