Ethan Ethan was born a month premature with a condition where most of his intestine lay outside his body. During surgery shortly after his birth, doctors were only able to save a tiny portion of his bowel. Ethan, who spent all but one night of his life in hospital also developed severe liver disease. He needed a new liver and intestine and was given only a few weeks to live.

Sadly a donor was not found in time and Ethan died in his Mum and Dad’s arms aged 11 months (Ethan Collins )

National Transplant Week If you believe in organ donation, prove it Would you take an organ if you needed one? Nearly everyone would. But only 31% of us have joined the Organ Donor Register. More than 10,000 people in the UK currently need a transplant. Of these, 1000 each year – that's three a day - will die waiting as there are not enough organs available.

What is organ donation? Organ donation is the gift of an organ to help someone who needs a transplant. Hundreds of lives are saved each year by the generosity of organ donation. The organs taken after death are transplanted into the body of someone desperately needing them! Or they are taken from a live donor e.g. kidney.
